✨ What polishing actually does
Polishing is not “just giving it a rub”. It is a controlled process of removing a micro-layer of clear coat that takes out defects and brings the car back to “as new from the showroom”:
- ✓ Removes scratches and scuffs left by car wash brushes, branches and keys in pockets.
- ✓ Takes out holograms — the fine spiral marks left by careless polishing at another workshop.
- ✓ Removes oxidation — when the clear coat has been “burnt” by the sun and looks dull, polishing brings back the depth of the colour.
- ✓ Gives a mirror shine — the car looks newer than it did on the day it was bought.
- ✓ Prepares the bodywork for ceramic or PPF — without polishing, those coatings “lock in” every defect for good.
- ✓ Raises the value of the car before a sale — a buyer sees a well-kept car straight away.
⚠️ What polishing does NOT fix: deep scratches down to the primer, dents, body damage, paint burnt “through to the primer”. We assess it on the spot free of charge and say honestly whether polishing will help you.

How many stages to do depends on the condition of the clear coat. We usually show you on one wing, and then recommend a package.
One abrasive compound, SOFT99/G'zox, plus a finishing polish. Removes fine scratches, holograms and oxidation. Ideal for a car in good condition — 90% of clients choose this package.
Abrasive compound → medium → finishing. Full restoration of the paintwork — deep scratches, serious holograms, clouded clear coat. For cars 3-7 years old.
Three different compounds + a finishing polish + a protective product. For premium cars, and for preparation before ceramic or PPF. A mirror result, showroom-fresh.
Cloudy plastic headlights → clear again. Sanding + polishing + a protective lacquer or film. For the pair (2 headlights) — a separate service from the rest of the bodywork.
The exact price depends on the car class, the body area and the condition of the clear coat. We measure the thickness of the clear coat with a gauge before we start — so as not to thin out a fine factory coat.
🛠️ Our equipment and materials
Polishing is the process of removing a micro-layer of clear coat (2-5 µm per stage) to take out scratches, holograms and oxidation and bring back a deep shine. The quality of the result depends on 3 things: the machine, the compounds and the detailer.
Equipment: RUPES BigFoot — an Italian certified system. It is the world detailing standard — this is exactly the equipment premium cars are polished with at dealerships. An eccentric-drive system (not a plain orbital one) — it will not burn the clear coat even on thin modern finishes.
Abrasive compounds: SOFT99 and G'zox (Japan). Different grades for different steps: coarse ones to remove heavy defects, fine ones for the finishing shine.
Bay lighting: powerful LED panels at 5500K — this is “daylight”, in which every scratch and hologram shows up at once. It is critical — without the right light the detailer does not see the defects and cannot remove them.
Detailer: Maryna Vasyl — founder of the studio, in detailing since 2020. Trained at the CDL Master (Car Detail Lab) school — holds the school's official certificate + a RUPES BigFoot certificate.
📋 The polishing process — 6 steps
- Paint thickness gauge over the whole body — we measure the thickness of the clear coat. If it is thin (a resprayed car) we adjust the strategy so as not to burn through it.
- Detailing wash + clay bar — deep cleaning of the surface. Polishing a dirty car means driving the dirt into the clear coat.
- Degreasing with isopropyl alcohol — a 100% clean surface before the compounds.
- A test on one wing — we do one wing completely. We show you the result. You decide whether we carry on.
- The main polishing RUPES BigFoot with the chosen SOFT99/G'zox compounds. 1, 2 or 3 stages depending on the package.
- Finishing polish + inspection in daylight. Plus care recommendations, or the offer of a ceramic coating on top.
Time required: 1 day for one-step, 2 days for two-step, 3 days for three-step. Headlight polishing separately — 2-4 hours.
